Networking problem with OSX and Windows!

Well basicly i followed a google tutorial and i networked my pc and mac and its great! Until i rebooted my mac and found it has a dynamic ip! My pc doesnt as i can connect to windows via osx every time without fail.

is there a way of me being able to connect to osx every time without going into terminal and finding the new ip?

You can set the IP address of you MAC manualy.

System Prefs> Network

Then find the TCP/IP tab for your network card and change the "Configure IPv4" option to manual.

Fill in all of the fields and all should work as before.

If you set the computer name on the mac to something a bit shorter you can usually just \\name it, rather than relying on the IP. Doesn't always seem to work though for some reason.. the name on mine seems to reset itself randomly.
