Hello there

Just bought a new PC and alreay am having some problems.

My MB is ASUS P5B-SE.

The problem is that within device manage Ethernet Controller has a ? and no driver has been installed.

I may be wrong but I think this is the reason why I can not get a constant internet connection. Im connecting via a cable.

Local area connection 1 and 2 appears connected to internet and then they both disappear, im now not connected to internet and then re-appear and I get a connection again.

Any ideas? Where can I find a driver for Ethernet controller, have checked the ASUS site and no luck.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply.

I did see those drivers but I have tried them with the Ethernet controller and would not recognise them.

These work with Attansic Gigabit Ethernet I have uprgaded the drivers for this, still having the same connection problems and Ethernet Controller still has yellow ? mark.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again for your reply.

I have looked in at device manager.

Ethernet controller appears under "Other devices"
Manufacturer is unknown, "the device is not configured properly (code 1)" appears in the box below

The actual network card 'Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Base T-controller' appears under "Network" and is states "working fine".

What is an Ethernet controller and the fact there are no drivers installed for this device be the reason why I never get a sustained connection?

Thanks again
