does anyone know how i can get my real PC to show up in the network places of my VMware windows xp install on os x?

at the moment there is a mapped drive (z:) which points to the mac home folder (curious how this is linked since it doesnt show up in network places... anyone?) and in network places there is just workgroup which times out like there is nothing in there...

anyone help me out?

ahhh yes, i had tried that "bridge" option you speak of, but it didn't work first time... it did this time becuase i restarted after... didnt do that first time round :) - thanks ;)

might as well tag on another question... if i want to back up my virtual windows (for example for if i wanted to format os x), i've taken a snapshot but cant find where its stored... is this the way to back up anyway? or should you just copt the whole virtual machine file in the "Virtual Machines" directory?

I think if you just copy the contents of your virtual machines directory that should be fine. I have taken a few snapshots before myself but i don't know where they are saved to. I just use superduper to do a full system backup anyways so to keep everything safe.
sorted :)

was just having a dabble, and discovered the snapshots are actually saved within that virtual machine file, so basically, you have to back up the whole thing :)

by the way... for anyone considering a virtual machine, i haven't used parallels but vmware is bloody. brilliant. ;) - i use it for running IE6 and IE7 for my cross compatibility checks but also for running uTorrent for the occasions where transmission aint up to the job :) - top notch stuff ;)
