Never been on a train before. Route planner?

Indeed. Can't believe you have never been on a train

I've only ever been the once.

I either

A) went on holidays with parents

or

B) went on holiday and drove myself there. I started driving at 18, so the window between driving, and being old enough to afford to go places on my own as quite small.

If i use public transport, i use the bus which runs every 10 minutes 100 yards from my hosue.

It's the frequency of trains in and out of aber that takes the ****, there's a uni and the train's are disgusting start/end of term

Cambrian line is single track with crossing loops, plus several steep (for trains) gradients and a fair bit of curvature as it traverses the hills which keeps linespeed down in the 55 - 60 MPH range in some places. However I believe the Welsh Assembly aspires to an hourly service at some point which will require fairly slick use of the infrastructure. Not sure if that includes reinstating the crossing loops at Westbury and Caersws.

Nice scenery though, particularly if you head off along the Coast line. My only experience of driving from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth is that the road was pretty awful and I'd much rather relax on the train and view the scenery, accompanied by nice musical throbbing from the Class 158 underfloor engine...:eek:
