Never been so impressed with an ISP!

Okay, Here's what the BeBox tells me after about a day and a half of uptime:

DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,338 / 13,193
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 13.0 / 25.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 7.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 14 / 60,512
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 14 / 14
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 231 / 7

Surely the speed ought to be a bit higher than 13Mb?

Just a quick question to you all (mainly to mrbios), how far away are you from your exchange?

I am thinking of switching to bethere at the end of this month/start of July when it aparently gets activated on my exchange (im going to ring them to confirm) as im currently on VM 20mb, i have got full speeds from them since ive been with them its just the price is making me leave £37 p/m if i can achieve around 15/18 with bethere im definitely going to switch.

about 300-400m as the crow flys i think

probably hasnt done a thing but i bought a fancy replacement for my master socket which replaces the dangly filter and has a phone and ADSL socket on it instead, also im always plugged into my master socket directly...no extension cables

Have you tried connecting at the test socket behind the master socket and/or removing extentions and/or the ring wire (e.g. all the usual steps)?

I read connecting to the test socket can give an increase of a couple MB. Unfortunately, I don't have one. My building was wired by monkeys I think.

Raise a ticket with Be to get put on Fastpath.
You can also connect to your test socket.

If you start getting disconnects, you'll have to have yourself taken off fastpath again. You have few errors as it is though so it should be fine.

Haha kinda had the same story well almost, was getting like D/L 1.7MB and U/L 0.021MB, on Talktalk broadband and about 1 mile from the LLU exchamge box, gave them a ring and they tried getting 6MB which was a no go as websites didnt load up at all, then i suggest tried 2.5MB as that should be easily attainable and reasonable increase, then ramped it up to 3MB worked fine. Then in a last attempt he the guy increased it to 4MB which im currently on and its working fine
and stable so far. Hopefully maybe in a month or so try for 4.5MB.
Now this might be much, but it is a vast improvement to me, and i have to say first time in dealing with TalkTalk i have had great customer support. Hopefully they will keep it up.

OK, sorry to hi-jack a bit. I'm on the BE Unlimited package and I was connected on Thursday. Here's my stats:

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 8.0 / 7.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 71 / 3,031,537
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 71 / 2
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 236 / 2

Speed Test:

Is there anything I can raise with them to possibly push a bit more out of the connection?

with your line attenuation Dup id suggest fastpath and a 3db SN margin profile (ask BE via a support ticket)

if you start getting loss of framing errors or loss of signal though then get fastpath put back to interleaving, though i cant see any reason not to be on a 3db SN margin profile :)

Cheers mrbios. I have dropped them a ticket.

I have just discovered the SMTP port 25 block. Luckily my web host has the ability to switch to an alternate port :)

That is one damn nice phoneline *envy*

I had it put in when I moved into the house. Brand new cable from the pole and 220 metres from the exchange as the crow flies :D

Aekeron is gonna hate me:

Cheers guys, well chuffed and cheaper than my Enta connection. Why I didn't do this when I moved in I will never know!

Edit: Currently downloading Half Life Episode 1 at 2.5 MB/s \o/
