Turned my PC on by accident yesterday and instead of waiting for it to boot up, I held the power button down for 5 seconds to switch it off immediately while it was still training. This morning I tried turning it back on and all I got was a red light on the motherboard.

Had to pull the sod apart to remove the CMOS battery after which it booted up and I had to reenter my BIOS settings. If only I'd have known! Never again.

They do put CMOS batteries in ridiculous places these days. They used to be easy to get at but thes days they can even be under a heatsink.

I was lucky mine was easy to get to. Still I hate taking my PC apart at the best of times. A lot of crawling about on the floor and moving it around.
