But the Fighstar album is pretty good. Good mix of tracks and tempos and all seem to be well played, sung and produced.

fightstar are amazing. i've been saying this for well over a year now, let's hope people drop the Busted stigma and actually listen to the music.

indeed, i really like the new album

shame Palahniuk's Laughter isnt on it, as i really like that song too. I missed the chance to see them for £4 in leeds last year, and i am gutted!

Palahniuk's Laugher is on their EP. i've not seen the track list of the new album...are the other songs from the EP on there?

1. To Sleep
2. Grand Unification
3. Waste A Moment
4. Sleep Well Tonight
5. Paint Your Target
6. Build An Army
7. Last Conversation (Here Again)
8. Lost Like Tears In The Rain *
9. Open Your Eyes
10. Mono *
11. Hazy Eyes *
12. Grand Unification
13. Wake Up

Thats the track listing from the album, with the 3 starred also featuring on the They Liked You Better When You Were Dead EP

Palahniuks Laughter, Speak Up and Amethyst are not on the album, but are on the EP

Yup, they are amazing. Been listening to their tracks for over a year also. It's the only music i play on my iPod :D

Grand Unification and Waste a moment are probibly my fav's, but after hearing the full version of Until Then that may soon change.

"Palahniuks Laughter" and "Paint Your Target" were pretty mediocre when I heard them. I will be giving the album a chance though when I get my hands on it. And "Mono" is named after the band as a tribute if my memory serves me correctly (doesn't matter what the Fightstar album sounds like, Mono > Fightstar :p).

PYT is fantastic, definatly not mediocre ;)

Well it sounds like pretty standard post-hardcore/screamo to me. Didn't really throw anything at me that made me sit up and listen. Very derivative.

Charlie's songwriting is getting better definitely. The newer songs are far more together than the likes of 'Paint Your Target' and 'Palahnuik's Laughter' which imo wouldn't have gotten them signed without Charlie's history.

I agree with Carzy though, it sounds a lot like everything that's been done before better, some very FFaF stuff, Deftones and some Silverchair influenced stuff as well.

I'm sorry as he's meant to be a really nice guy, and he's a Tool fan, so alright by me, but for me he's not quite at the level of the band he loves yet.

Yea like I said, I'll listen to the album objectively as best I can. I've been following their progress for a while now, and they are getting better from what I can see. Charlie has good taste in music too but that's irrelevant :p And I'm 100% certain he wouldn't have got signed without his history. Bands that play music like his are a penny a dozen nowadays. Just flick through the pages of Rock Sound, and have a browse through myspace, if you don't believe I'm right...because I'm right :p

On a sidenote, go and listen to Refused if you read this post. Completely off-topic, but they are the best punk band ever to grace the face of this earth.

'The Rhythm Section' mmmm :)

Have you heard The Bronx? You might like them.

Yep, got their self-titled. I haven't actually listened to it very much, I'll have to give it a whirl at some point.

I really like the Bronx album, especially knowing all of it was recorded in a maximum of three takes. They're releasing a new album this summer as well.

Did you ever hear any Lucky Nine? There was a thread about them a while back, Colin Doran from Hundred Reasons had a side project band for a while and it heavily borrowed from Refused - check out 'The Program' and 'Lake Placid'

O/T did you get my email?

Not heard the Lucky Nine, I do like Hundred Reasons though so I'll check that stuff out, cheers.

I did get your email, I'm just MSNing at the moment, and being generally lazy (I have an essay to write, but it's so tedious I can't be bothered). I shall reply before I go to bed however!

I think that you might like The Rise. I think they only had one album before they broke up - it's called 'Signal To Noise'.
