I've just learnt this the hard way, my credit card had expired so I decided to use my backup, my bank account details. Little did I know it would take 7-9 days just to clear!!!!

How bloody crap is that, and I can't cancel it grrrrrrr

Well that and if it's a credit card it's not your money so the chances of getting it back are far greater should you get scammed.

Sounds like you've never verified your bank account details and so it is using an e-Cheque instead of a debit direct from your account.

I had the same problem when I made a transfer. Ended up taking 3 days instead of the 5-7 they said it could take. Still a minor nuisance, though, especially if you're not expecting it (first transaction). From now on, I'll know to give them time.

Same here, I still say that 7-9 days sounds like an e-Cheque.

I have my bank account set up as primary and its an instant DD transfer
Ditto. Though it takes a day of two to show up, the payment itself is immediate.

Have you got your debit card registered as well? I have the bank account and debit card registered and I get instant transfers.

My sister only has her bank account and it makes her do e-cheques.

thats correct :)

i had to use E-cheques for the first few months, and it sucked. even though a few sellers just sent the stuff straight away :)

Not quite sure what's gone on there then, I bought something from the bay through paypal yesterday and the payment went instantly? Or is that because they own Paypal? Never used paypal for anywhere else so not entirely sure.

Bought an item on ebay on Thursday via a Paypal Instant Bank transfer and the funds were debited from my bank account yesterday

The seller always receives the funds instantly into his paypal account when you make the purchase unless of course you send an e-cheque
