Hi all,

Just a rant to let out some steam.

2 and a half weeks ago i was looking for a new graphics card, thought id have a look around that bidding site for a decent deal. Ive had an ebay account for ages but never bought or sold anything on it, was always very cautious about it.

So, i find a good deal on a card, bid on it and eventually end up winning it, Great! Obviously made sure the seller had good feedback, hes from the uk also so i think great what can go wrong lol. So i pay immediatley over paypal, notify the seller that i have paid and ask for the tracking number as soon as it gets posted. The next day i get an e-mail telling me the item has been posted, but no tracking number given. So i email him again saying thanks, but could i please have the tracking number as i want proof of postage. No reply. Next day nothing comes in the post, it was meant to be next day delivery, for what i paid for delivery it better have been. So i leave it a day, nothing the next day. Im annoyed, so i send the seller a 'stern, semi rude' email basically saying along the lines of 'Where is my item? its been 2 days. For what i paid for delivery you could have easily sent it RMSD and if you have sent it recorded delivery, where is the damn tracking number?'. Slighty rude i know, but im getting annoyed because he keeps avoiding giving me the Tracking number.

He then e-mails me back, basically saying 'You are a zero-rated user, your address is unconfirmed (i had it shipped to my uni address as i reside in portsmouth during term time)' and basically that im the untrustworthy one even though ive already kept my end of the deal by paying him.

I apologised for the angry email and asked him again for the tracking number, nothing. He replied assuring me it has been posted. So i think ok lets wait and see. Nothing has yet arrived at my door and none of my house mates have signed for anything and no missed delivery note has been put through the door. I contact him a few days later, asking him to please contact royal mail and see whats happened to the item as it may have got lost in the post or something. Ive email him 4/5 times asking, even got his contact detials off ebay and txt him twice, NO REPLY. Every message i sent was polite and just trying to get some help off the seller.

Now ive started a dispute over paypal and hes accused me of probably recieving the card and now wanting my money back to try get one over on him, where do people get off!? im just hurt and insulted at how low some people are, hes given me no proof of delivery, ive been very very lenient with him, given him the opportunity to contact royal mail and hes just treated me with no respect what so ever.

This whole experience has just been awful :(

I only deal with people that exchange phone numbers with me so that i can assess them properly. Once I've had a chat on the mobile I then exchange house phone numbers. If they don't they can **** off, Basically.
Those that are willing to exchange phone numbers & spend some time on the phone are genuine in my experience, Especially when it's a House phone.
I started a new account because some idiot non reading **** seller slated my old one. Nowadays i am friendly up to a point, After that Only Genuine Buyers would put up with the way i sell which is Perfect as it's only genuine people i want to deal with, **** the rest.

I just get the feeling like hes tried to mug me off because im a new user, well not new, but my first buy.

If its got lost in the post, fair enough, but lend me a hand to find out whats happened, the fact hes just ignored my cry's for help just shows to me hes probably done me over lol.

I had exactly the same thing on MM on here. (as did a few others) and having the guys number did not help to ensure he was genuine in the slightest.

has he sent this graphics card to an unconfirmed address? (as in yours)
also, paypal ask sellers to send goods via recorded delivery as proof, if im rmembering this correctly the seller is in the wrong for not following the paypal rules and they will favour the buyer in these cases. i could be wrong but sounds like you have a chance of getting some money back......

Makes no difference, Paypal are still an independent group of people that have to work through the poop that rolls downhill.

It's the norm really, you're not dealing with a legit shop so expect anything. Just follow the simple rules..

Pay with paypal, wait 10 days, lodge Paypal dispute. If he can't provide a tracking number with a signed POD paypal refund you and back charge his account. Simple really

I've sold a fair bit on ebay and I would delay sending for a few days for a zero feedback buyer - however I disclose this is my listings.

If he didn't do that then he is in the wrong for not telling you and lying about sending it.

However, in the 200 odd sales i've had, nothing irritates me more than someone who pesters me left right and centre about postage.

If ive clearly said in my listing that I will delay postage then I will.

People expect stuff to be sent on the day they pay and they dont realise that next day postage means exactly that. It will arrive the next day after it has been posted.

He then e-mails me back, basically saying 'You are a zero-rated user, your address is unconfirmed (i had it shipped to my uni address as i reside in portsmouth during term time)' and basically that im the untrustworthy one even though ive already kept my end of the deal by paying him.

He is naughty for misleading you, and lying about the postage however, a zero feedback user, sending to an unconfirmed address rings immediate alarm bells with me.

Also, by paying your money you have made no real commitment or risk, your money is safe as paypal err's on the side of the buyer.

It is too easy for relations to break down via the email system in ebay. Its a very cold, robotic way of communication. The amount of times a sale is going really, really bad with threats flying everywhere, and ive resolved it all with a 5 minute phone call to them, i could count on 3 hands

You don't really have a lot to worry about - it is unfortunate for the seller as he is going to be the one who ends up out of pocket here.

You had an unconfirmed address.
You might not think this is a big deal or a big issue, however as an EBay seller I can tell you that it causes a lot of problems.
If I send to a confirmed address using a trackable delivery system then my sales are guaranteed.
Paypal protection comes in to play and everybody is happy.
If however I send to an unconfirmed address then we immediately lose Paypal protection.
All the buyer needs to do is report the item as not recieved and if the sender didn't actually use a trackable delivery, so has no proof of delivery he loses out.

You are actualy lucky that he sent to an unconfirmed address in the first place.
I will only send to unconfirmed when the sale is for <£20, anything higher and I will refuse to send it - yes I've had many a new person shout, complain and send me the rudest of mails but I won't budge on that.

Give it a week, the minimum amount of time you have to wait and then if you still don't have the card file a claim from Paypal.
The fact he sent it to an unconfirmed address means you are more than likely going to win and get your money back.

File a complaint immediately with paypal. It will take a couple of weeks but if he provides proof of postage to paypal then it gets resolved (and you receive your item)

If he cannot provide proof of postage, he will lose the claim and you will get your money back

thanks guys thats reassuring :)

if he had a problem sending to my unconfirmed address (uni address) then he should have said and i would have had him send it to my card address, home.

won the dispute and got my money back :-)

he provided a fake tracking number in the end aswell lol... some people are just amazing at times.
