Atari and Obsidian announce that Neverwinter Nights 2 is gold, and the D&D RPG sequel is Due in North American stores on October 31 and in Europe on November 3:

NEW YORK, October 17, 2006 - Atari, Inc (Nasdaq: ATAR) and Obsidian Entertainment today announced that the highly-anticipated Neverwinter Nights 2 has gone gold and is on schedule to ship to stores nationwide on October 31 in North America and on November 3 in Europe. Neverwinter Nights 2, the sequel to BioWare Corp.'s best-selling and genre-defining role-playing game, is set in the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), and will transport players back to the embattled city of Neverwinter. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS is under license from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro. Neverwinter Nights 2 will be released for the Windows platform.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Neverwinter Nights 2 features a new, extensive single-player game with deep character development and a powerful new toolset that provides players with unprecedented ability to create their own universes, quests and storylines

"Neverwinter Nights 2 has been an incredible game to produce, as we have aimed from the beginning to develop an immersive gaming experience that will satisfy both the RPG and modding communities," said Feargus Urquhart, Obsidian Entertainment's CEO. "Now that Neverwinter Nights 2 has gone gold, we are proud to say we are delivering a game that should exceed fans' expectations."

The Neverwinter Nights franchise has sold more than two million copies worldwide, is translated into 10 languages, sold in more than 40 countries and features one of the largest and most active fan communities in all of gaming. To date, fans of the franchise, which includes Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide and Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, have created nearly 4,000 modifications to the original game using the original, award-winning Aurora Toolset. A more robust toolset will be included with the release of Neverwinter Nights 2.

:D :D

Not usualy my type of genre, but i did enjoy NWN, so ill probably give this a crack. Hopefully its not too resource hungry on my poor little machine :(

About time too, was supposed to be in stores last month!

:(

Think I'm going to need a new AGP gfx card to replace my ATI 9600XT...

I'm hoping my machine will take the punishment... with a few things turn down.

Anyway, not long now before we all find out, I guess!

Does anyone know if NWN2 contains NWN1 + expansion packs? I've seen conflicting reports and would quite like to get the new one, mainly if it includes the first game :)

The ones that make your computer are a competitor, probably shouldn't be in your sig :p

Been playing with the NWN2 toolset a bit over the last couple of weeks. It looks like the game could be decent, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.....not long now :)

If that X1950Pro is single-slot I'll buy it in a heartbeat :D
There's also the Gainward '7800GS', two of which aren't GS at all. One is a 7800GT (£242), one is a 7900GT (£220), both from OcUK. They're limited edition, AGP, and very, very fast.

Hopefully they're release a demo since I'm conflicted with NWN2. I usually like RPGs, but couldn't get into NWN for love nor money.

AFAIK, the limited edition versions (lawful good and chaotic evil) contain NWN1+SOU+HOTU. The Official NWN2 website has links to where you can get them. I think the LG edition has sold out from the official stockist though.

Interesting, if not a little paranoid. I'm sure we are all grown up to appreciate a persons right to choose what to buy. The very nature of a community is one where diversity is embraced.

Still, an interesting comment that is duly noted.

What he basically means is mentioning a competitor to OcUK on the OcUK forums is against the rules.

I remember being suspended for a week for mentioning the people in your sig 'Xs multi-GPU system while not as clean as SLI has the potential to work with any two graphics cards regardless of brand'. Of course they ended up scrapping it and just going with SLI.

Wow... That's quite startling. Thanks for the tip, I will amend it.

A little worrying though. I appreciate the nature of competition, but I would have thought on a more adult orientated forum, such things would be accepted as the nature of the PC's diverse community. I've used a few forums over the years, and they mainly seem to be populated by egomaniacs who delight in laughing at ones lack of knowledge. This is the first forum for a while where I have seen little evidence of such childish behaviour.

Anyho, thanks again for expalining this, and I will indeed remove the offending name.

Thanks again, Paul.

Umm...it's a forum hosted by a company that sells computers and accessories. I don't think it's at all unreasonable for them not to want to have competitors mentioned. Just good business sense, and it's not like they're obliged by law to provide a free speech forum with their website or anything.

Oh dear, looks like I've opened a can of worms here, based on a sig! I'll try and make this a little more clearer... I have no problem what so ever with competition, or OCUK's rules... none what so ever. I just stated that while a PC might be put together by a certain company, this does not affect ones choice to upgrade, using components purchased from, for example OCUK.

Anyway, the problem has been resolved, as I think I made pretty clear in my last post.

Sorry to those I offended, I have only recently joined this forum, and perhaps did not look at the rules closly enough. My mistake.

Lets get back to discussing Neverwinter Nights 2, eh!

Indeed ;)

As someone who's preordered NWN2 but has payed little or no attention to whats actually included/changed with it since NWN1, does anyone fancy doing a little synopsis of classes, races, changes etc?

I fully expect a list of links to be posted, which is also great. And if you cant be bothered that's also great, and yes I'm lazy :)
