Hey, im looking for a new game to play and i've read a lot of good things about NWN2.

But i have a couple of questions about the game before i go ahead and buy it.

Is it easy to pick up/accessible? I've never touched a D&D game before let alone understand the rules etc

Would i have to play the 1st game to understand/follow the story?

And how advanced is the D&D ruleset? With regards to beginners

Thanks in advanced if anyone could answer these for me.

It's fairly easy to pick up and play, the game can help you generate a character and there are plenty of character generation faqs about on the net.

The D&D rules are also pretty simple to pick up (but difficult to master) so you shouldn't really have any problems. There's no need to have played the first game to be able to play the new one.

Hope that helps :)

Great thanks for the information.

is NWN 2 the same structure as NWN ? That is, its a series of instanced zones that are loaded instead of something like gothic, oblivion, arcanum, dungeon siege where the gameworld is loaded on the fly. Ergo atmosphere, continuity and game realism is preserved.

Is there much different from nwn in the game mechanics and gameplay? Or is it the same game with spruced up graphics and better story?

They seem to be trying to bridge the gap between Baldurs Gate and NWN1. Larger parties, going from 4 and upwards as the game progresses with some companion side quests. Along with a bit more flexibility and depth over NWN1.

It falls a long way short of Baldurs Gate though. Still its a good game, hopefully the expansion will make the game better.
