
The goal of NWShader is to support fullscreen and eventually material shaders within NWN, drastically improving the visual quality and increasing modder's control over visuals.
A huge number of effects are possible, including common current-gen effects like bloom, HDR, depth of field, and motion blur. Normal and parallax mapping are possible, adding depth to the scene. For a few NWN-specific examples, imagine the wraiths using a velvet shader (only their edges are visible, no matter what the angle), ghosts fading in and out, or prismatic dragons slowly shifting through the rainbow.
With vertex and fragment shaders, an infinite combination of visual effects are available to the artist.
At this point, many fullscreen effects are possible. Multiple passes are supported, as well as multiple shaders. A number of testing shaders are included with NWShader.
