Neverwinter Nights Help/Explanation

Been playing this game offline for a week or two now, and have enough money to be chosing some good weapons/armor etc

The thing is i dont understand what things like 1d8/1d8 mean for the weapons, all i have been going on uptop now is how much things cost, if its more expensive i keep that one

Also all the different stats and everything on armor

I have tried google but came up with nothing, so any help would be great

ok so at the moment i have a double axe+1 and a double blade which are 1d8/1d8 but have just found a ******* sword which is 1d10

is the ******* sword better? plus i can then use a shield as well until i can beef my fighter up

also what does the critical threat bit mean?

after those 2 are answered i think ill be fine cheers

would i be best using the ******* sword then and sticking to swords or would using the double blades be better off in the long run?

ok cheers for the tips, think im going to go with the ******* sword then and stick with just swords and a backup shield if needs be

think i might stick to my double axe/blade because i dont seem to need a shield as my armor + HP are pretty high so might stick with what i have been using all the way through upto now

well i have stuck with my duel blade for the time being, might just go through as i am then start again with a different character which is completly different, the monk sounds fun

well im on chapter 2 and have done 3 of the 4 areas so will finish the other one off tonight and make sure my journal is as good as empty before carrying on
