Hi.

I'm upgrading my 1060 to a 1070. So I've just dropped and first thing that was strange is HWmonitor doesn't see the card. So I look in gpuid and it sees the 1070 but some info is missing and fan speeds are 0%. Then the screen goes off for a few seconds but comes back on again. So I switched off.

I've just left the drivers untouched as I thought you could drop in a 10 series card with uninstalling them.

My PSU is a fsp500-60hhn and it has dual rails of 18A. There is a 6pin+6pin to 8 pin adapter in the 1070 box do you think I should use this as the PSU has two 6+2 pin cables? I'm currently using one of them to power the card.

What do you think?

Aren't the GPU fans off until it reaches 50C? Thought I read that while I was trying to brainwash myself into handing over a small fortune for a new card. And in my experience it's not unusual for the screen to go black for a few seconds while new drivers are installed, so if the drivers were tweaking things having detected a 1070 instead of 1060 (not that I imagine the drivers are wildly different) I wouldn't be startled by that happening.

Of course if it keeps happening that's a different matter.
