hello all

i have been looking at widescreens and the forum for a while so its time for me to ask some questions, stupid ones too :)

i,m looking for a widescreen 20 or 21
good for gaming and office work

something on the lines of:

solid build

- not bothered about speakers or usb
- 8ms or less
- 800:1 or greater (greater is better for me as i,m nearly blind so for web developing really)
- widescreen
- 1:1 pixel mapping
- just a moitor thats near perfect

i was thinking about the nex but the gloss finish and reflection is scaring me
and also the Viewsonic VP2030B is this a widescreen or not?

- leave the belinea and philips out

so please badass and other please help.

thanks all for your time

I too am looking for pretty much the same spec monitor. Would like to see peoples suggestions on this thread.

Have been looking at
- Belinea 102035W
- NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2
- Viewsonic VX2025

hi there

the belinea for me looks a bit tacky, althought it performs well

the nice its got a big head though but nice two things though
- glossy finish
- lower contrast ratio 700:1

the viewsonic mixed feedback
-it doesnt have 1:1 mapping

baddass you around please give us your feedback

That's not a widescreen monitor though, is it?

i dont think it is, i like the NEC LCD20WGX2 but is just the gloss finish and is it 1:1 pixel mapping and ocuk have it at 800:1 i was sure it was stated at 700:1.

whats the advc adm like with text and graphics when its on

thanks

There is a good review here of that monitor.

Review here

And I have heard a lot of favourable reviews on this monitor.

Horses for courses and all that though.

ya i have seen most of these reviews still no mention od pixel mapping and is it 700 or 800 , according to nec its 700 to ocuk its 800 which one is it anyone

I would probably be more inclined to take the NEC version, also everywhere else I have looked it is 700:1 (1600:1 with Advanced DV Mode). Only OCUK have i seen it at 800:1, i'm sure they will respond soon to confirm whether it is a mistake or not.

i think its a type but will know soon i just hope badass answers, also have you seen anywhere that it mentions is 1:1 pixel mapping capable

I would assume that he would have put US version only then as he has in *** HDCP box. Because the us ver5sions are HDCP enabled, UK versions are not. I think i have seen Badass post about this on another thread as well, but we wait for him to confirm.

hi

i,m trying to look for that thread i'll post it when i find it but also wait for badass, would you post it if you find that thread as well pls.

have u seen this monitor by the way, have u seen the gloss finish

hi baddass

thanks for getting back to us, seems to be the daddy of 20 widescreen tft and the asking price is nearly on par with screens that support 1600/1200.

comparing this to the philips 2006ws feature wise and build wise, what would you say?

and have you seen this monitor for your self?

@ s96024

thanks for your link and input for this, are you thinking of getting one as well, any actual pics of the monitor, im searching as i,m typing this

not seen it in action myself yet, but have read a lot about it and heard some very positive first hand accounts. OcUK very own igors wrote a very in depth review of it for TFT Central not long ago too :) The Philips is also a good screen receiving a lot of positive feedback. However, there haven't been any major reviews of it yet, so it's a little hard to compare. The NEC is well established and a great screen though :)

thanks for that baddass

any actual; pics anywhere i,m looking through the threads still

@Baddass

also i forgot to mention wahts this about updated parts version, would you please fill me in on everything on this monitor pls :)

and how could you tell and i take it ocuk have them?

Baddass said:
right i'm with you. Some people have had some models with suspect build quality, but i'm not sure if there's a second version as such, just that people have returned it to NEC who have acknowledged the problems and replaced the unti

hi baddass

in terms of overall secreen performance, would you rate the nec more if so why as i,m not but dont they use the same panel.

thanks

The NEC LCD20WGX2 and Philips 200W6CS use different panels. They are both based on IPS panel technology, but the NEC is using the new generation of AS-IPS panel, whereas the Philips is just using an updated S-IPS panel which was widely used before it (the old 16ms edition used in models like the Dell 2005FPW for example). They have similar characterisitcs, but the NEC offers some very good responsiveness comparable to that of even the fastst TN Film models around (like the VX922 for instance). Add the DFC technology onto this and you have some impressive performance. The Philips is good, and like i said, we haven't seen many reviews of it yet. However, I think the NEC has the edge with it's new gen of AS-IPS panel

hi baddass

thanks for your help , i,m still looking into this tft, it seems to tick all the boxes:
