New 2011 Socket!

Good Evening Everybody,

I have just been trolling the internet and noticed how out of touch I have been with PC Hardware so I have decided to re-acquaint myself.
I have started to notice this move into 'Socket 2011' for processors and motherboards. My question is will the whole market completely move into this socket, in which case should I upgrade my system? or is it the case that they will continue to dabble between 1155 / 2011 for a long time yet?

Any help or experience would be very helpful Cheers.

See Im running the i3 processor on the 1155, and I really want to step it up a gear to the i7 for this year.
I was just curious because I know it would be a lot of money to go for a processor and motherboard upgrade as opposed to sticking with the 1155 and just a cpu.

Would the best option be to wait and see what happens or..?
