The information is probably only rumoured however I'm wondering when the 2012/2013 socket CPU's will be coming out, like the equivalent to the 3930k.

In case you've not guessed by the remarks above Q3 means the third quarter of this year so July to September.

Although as pointed out a lot is from so called leaked roadmaps.
 
Are there any high end Intel chips coming out soon which have 6 cores
or 8 cores that are going to be a worthwhile upgrade, a decent
performance upgrade all around from a Intel Core i7 980X?

assuming new games after the new console releases start using more than 4 cores due to the new xbox having an 8 core cpu , then yes socket 2011 might be worth it assuming the socket 2011 releases have 8 core or more cpus. haswell doesnt look like its going to have more than 4 cores until haswell-e whenever that is, so thats deffo not worth it, unless clock for clock performance is signicantly better which i doubt as they are concentrating more on the igp which reportedly will be as fast as a nvidia 650m
