I just received my new 206bw yesterday. Today when i turned it on it started making a buzzing sound?!? I changed the brightness levels and the sound stoped. Now the brightness has to be set to over 80 or it'll make a buzzing sound.

Whats wrong with it?

Have to say I've had this problem on quite a few samsungs of late, I've found it's usually the mini tube light inside that is causing the noise, sometimes after a while it settles, others you have to turn the brightness down, I had to get mine rma'd in the end, samungs returns service is pretty good, I got a free 24" upgrade out of them :D

Its not making any buzzzing right now since i changed the settings. The screen was fine yesterday, even when i changed all the settings. This morning it just started making a buzzing sound. My LG HDTV makes the same kind of sound when its on for a few hours.

Darn this new age of technology.

I'll give it a few days and see if it happens again.

Heres the culprit. Well one of them anyway. :p

Still trying to used to amount of room i have. I've been using a 17" monitor for around 10 years. The difference in size amazing.

Heres my old set up.

Someone mentioned the buzzing the other day, so I checked mine, none at all.
I use mine a different brightness levels depending on what i'm doing, so I would send it back.

Nice setup by the way, but I would be scared stiff ones going to fall !

Out of interest, do you know what panels you have, A or S ?
Could be interesting if another person has one of each, if so would be good if you could say what the quality between the 2 are like.

I'm still more than happy with my 'A' panel though....

The monitors are really solid sitting on the table like that. No way they're gonna fall. Both panals are A. I was really hoping to get an S panal too, just to compare.

No buzzing sound this morning when i turned it on. Lets hope it was just a one off thing.

What are the differences between A & S panals? Is there something i should be looking out for on these A panals?

Only thing i understand is that the A panals were produced by another company.

Robert was your old monitor a Mitsubishi Diamondtron? Looks like it in the pic, if so i have the same model and was looking at getting a 206BW. Just wondering if you noticed a big difference in terms of picture quality etc over the 17".

Yup, thats the monitor. Quality is hard to tell, pretty much the same. the only thing that i've noticed is the colors on the samsung, a lot more vibrant than the mits crt.

Still very happy with my purchase. Now i just can't believe i spent 4 years using a 17" monitor.

Sounds good (apart from the buzzing), had mine for about 4 years. Not long since built myself a new pc, so i think its about time i upgraded my monitor as well. :)

I think you're spot on, the only difference is that ones made by another comapny (The 'A' panel).

Something started on the net about 'A' panel being inferior quality and to be avoided. But having spent 2 solid days reading through forums, there is no evidence that this is the case. Everybody who had an 'A' panel said they were happy with the display.
It seems like one of the first people to have a dodgey display happened to have an 'A' panel and so it spread that these are to be avoided. Could have happened on any panel.
Anyway, as you can see from useres of 'A' panels on this site, no one seems to have an issue.....
