Been looking at a couple of monitors and don't really know what to get :S Any suggestions? Here are some I've been looking at:

IIyama Prolite E2201WS 22-inch

Iiyama E2202WSV-B 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor D-SUB and Speakers

Samsung SM2232BW 22" Glossy Widescreen Black TFT Monitor

Samsung SM226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Samsung Pebble SM2232BW 22" TFT Monitor

LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor

Any ideas? :)

Thanks.

The question is, what do you want to do with the screen? is it for games or is it more photo-shoping type activities?

If you're thinking about whether you want the 226bw or the 2232bw. The thing about those monitors is that they have 3 types of panels. A samsung panel, CMO panel or AU panel. The samsung panel is the best of all 3 panels but they are hardly around now. The other 2 panels are ok but after the 226bw, samsung made sure that for the 2232bw it was configured better so that the CMO and AU panels look as well as s-panels (with limitations of course).

So I would pick the 2232bw/gw over the 226bw anyday. Of course this entire thing is pretty minor and unless you look for differences you are unlikely to spot them.

I WOULD pick the E2201W as it uses the Samsung panel the same as the 226 etc but guarantees the samsung panel, something even samsung cannot do.

samsung's own panel is the best panel.

the 226CW uses the samsung panel guaranteed and the 226BW has the panel lottery so u could get a samsung panel or cmo or au panel??

the iiyama e2201w has a guaranteed samsung panel too and is only £202.

The iiyama, BW & CW all look identical, the pebble looks funkier but you might not get the best panel and it costs more.

so to summarise:-

226CW - samsung panel £247
226BW - CMO AU or samsung panel £212
2232bw - CMO AU samsung panel - £225

iiyama E2201W - samsung panel £202

tbh i cant see any competition

I heard the 2232bw/gw has a dodgy stand though? Then I guess I have a sturdy desk :)

I remember when i got my 2232BW and i had to push the monitor onto the stand, really thought it was gonna snap. The stand is a bit wobbly but there's no way it'd fall over. Great Monitor tho.

My first 226BW from OcUK was DOA, well it worked for 10 minutes.

Got a second one now and it's working perfectly. Not entirley sure what Panel but at a random guess I would say Samsung because the quality is great and I've not had any issues with gaming :)

Its an awesome screen for the price.

Unlikely. But the point is, most people cant tell the difference. So doesnt really matter.

So it's really a toss up between glossy screen or not glossy screen... hmm :)
