Hi my dad is after a new 24" monitor to use for photo's and photoshop and is getting bogged down with so many models, can any one can recommend a moniitor with a budget of £380 max. Models he is looking at are

Dell 2407
NEC LCD24WMC8
Samsung SM245T
HPW2408H

Thanks GUys ;)

For a start, I think the Dell and the Samsung are best due to the panel type (PVA). The others TN and not as good for photoshop work due to colour representation and viewing angles.

The Sammy has slightly better brightness, but really there isn't much in it between the 2. Personally I'd go for the Dell because of their good rep.

Get the OcUK 24" Value Digimate it's just as good as the dell unless you need the looks of the dell or the inputs :D

2407WFP-HC is currently around £380 so that looks the perfect choice. As said above, the OcUK L2442W is a good budget option.

I would be cautious in your choice if you want to do colour correction work on an LCD in Photoshop.

Do your research and you will find a host of monitors not to buy and probably end up spending more than you wanted to get the right monitor for this type of work.

I just got the hp w2408h, and it seems to be a nice monitor, though I'm not convinced by the colour setup out of the box, I'll make a better decision after I've calibrated it.

I got a price of £305 and that was the major factor for me. had it been closer to 400 I would probably looked at spending a bit more for a more dedicated photo editing panel.

It all depends on how important the photo editing is. if it's critical, spend real money and get a monitor designed for that purpose.
