My 8 year old pc just died.. Psu light on, no mobo light :( I want to buy a new pc but can't afford to build it all at once.. Will this be ok:

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £269.99
(£224.99) £269.99
(£224.99)
Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm. £164.99
(£137.49) £164.99
(£137.49)
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) £151.99
(£126.66) £151.99
(£126.66)
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit (CMX6GX3M3B2000C9) £119.99
(£99.99) £119.99
(£99.99)

Until I get the new gpu? How does the 2600k connect to my Monitor?

you need a dual channel ram kit for that sandybridge, so a 4GB or 8GB kit.

4gb kit - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-222-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

8gb kit - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-105-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

and to use the onboard gpu built into the 2600k cpu you need to use a H67 chipset motherboard, so at the same time you may as well drop down to a 2600cpu without the "K", as the k cpu's differ by having an unlocked multiplier for overclocking, which you cant do with a H67 motherboard anyway.

the monitor connections are actually on the back of the motherboard next to all the USB/Audio ports

And thats a rather large HDD? do you need one that big?

Thanks for clearing that up guys! Any ideas why I can't use the p67 with the gpu.. Seems a waste no? The h67 is not as good right. I'll be upgrading to the latest nvidia when I've got the cash.. Right now i want to use the onboard

they usually lack a few features, such as SLI/Crossfire support(multiple cards), a few less sata and usb ports and Overclocking options.

Can you recommend a good mobo? So 8 gig is the way forward!? Big hard disk because I have a Lian li x500.. It's not got much space for extra future hard disks!

They don't have the overclocking options and not probably intended for enthusiasts, ie overcloking ect.

H67 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-029-FC&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1907

and the price of the 8GB ram kit I pointed at is so cheap you may as well buy it:D

P67 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-152-MS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906 will only take a single graphics card.

P67 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-432-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906 does SLI/Crossfire
use either of the above P67 motherboards with the cheap PCI-E card I linked to above for a quick fix solution.

That will work, but the memory is expensive and the height of the ram will not allow the fitment of large heatsinks.

and the motherboard is so expensive.

£30 more could get the first P67 motherboard above and a cheap gpu until you can afford a good one.

I thought the mobo was good value!? Was going to pick up a p67 pro for 150 before?

The board can't overclock the cpu and can run crossfire but limits the second slot to 4x, better looking at the P67 route with cheap gpu.
