Just received an Asus 3060ti dual series to replace my ageing Asus 1060.

On the 1060 is had a single 6 pin power connector and the 3060 has a dual 8 pin. 650W Evga G2 has a 6 pin and an 8 pin graphics card power output but connecting that throws up a CPU fault ping and a red light on one channel of the GPU? Now I am 'guessing' I need to find the correct connector cable assembly or alternatively replace the PSU with something newer and a bit bigger as Asus suggest a 750W unit?

I think the EVGA G2 comes with 2 cables for PCIE, each of the cables has 1x 8pin (6+2) and 1x 6pin connector on it.

Check to see if you have the second cable, that way you can use the 8pin connection from each cable to run the GPU.

Also, using 2 connectors off of one cable can be bad practice anyway, but it's more of an issue on high current draw cards.

Cheers Pulse. Yep I am foraging around seeing if I can find it. Did find one for another past PSU but the Molex on that does not match the PSU socket. So hunting we will go.

Word of warning , do not use a pcie cable from a different psu without first making absolutely certain it has the same pin outs. If it does not have the correct pin outs you could potentially blow the psu gpu etc and all the fuses in the house as well. The psu would have initially come with ample 6 and 8 pin connectors so keep looking.

I have had no luck in finding the original cable so a new PSU it is! 750W this time for a bit of headspace.

We all know I will find it 20 mins after ordering a new one

Corsair RM750e on order. ETA - tomorrow.
