Guys

Took the plunge and bought an elite a week ago (First console since the N64), I have a couple of questions regarding RROD's and what happens when the comsoles are send away for repair.
So if some kind souls could give me some good advice it would be appreciated.. anyway

Ok, So a little worried that my shiny new console is going to break or RROD as soon as i use it for more than half an hour.
What im thinking about is whether I should mod the console to prevent any future RROD's or leave it alone, cross my fingers and hope for the best..

Questions so far..

1. If the console is send back for repair, what do they do exactly (Is it a sort of bolt mod?)

2. If the 360 is sent back to MS do you always recieve YOUR 360 back or would a be a refurb or the like?

3. The manufacturing date of my console is August 08, are these models likely to have a higher heat threshold and be less likely to RROD?

4. If you had just bought a new 360 would you Mod it ?, or stick to the waranty and leave it alone..

All I have heard from friends since I bought the 360 is that is that it will break, they all break. :(
So any advice with the Q's is appreciated..

if I were you I wouldnt touch it (not yet anyway) in terms of modding that is lol. you get 3 years warranty on the RROD error and a year on everything else. As far as I know MS usually either replace the board with a refurb or the whole console. that usually takes about 2 weeks

As you've just bought your console it'll be a Falcon chipset which are much better than the older models and has a lower RROD death rate. infact there is a slight chance that you may have a Jasper chipset but i dunno how you check for that one, i think it was the ammount of power it consumes.

as for what your friends are tellin you, they might have been right a year or 2 ago but now days what they are sayin, that it will break, is bull basically. yes there is a chance it might RROD but its FAR less likely than it would have been with one of the older models

Just use it and be happy! :)

I don't think it'll be a Jasper; have Jasper elites been spotted yet?
