I am looking for a 3d monitor around the 22/24 inch 120hz for gaming.

Never had a 3d monitor before not sure what I should be looking for. Going to be picking up a 680 soon so presume this will be ok.

Can anyone recommend me one please.

Thanks

Hi there,

With an Nvidia graphics card the 120Hz/3D monitor to have at the moment is the benq xl2420t.

it is a very nice 24in 1080p tn panel 120hz monitor that gets very good reviews and user feedback. here are some in-depth reviews of it:

To get 3D working on this monitor you will want an Nvidia 3D Vision2 kit, though you can also buy the monitor with one of these kits included - which saves you a bit of money.

That's your best option for a 120hz panel with a GTX680....i have that combo and wouldn't change it for anything at the moment for gaming.(it's made me actually game a lot more again :p)

If had a 7970 though i would have gone for one of the Samsung 120hz panels as that's the best option if using an AMD card providing you wish to use 3D which you may aswell with such a monitor.

Thanks all for gaming it defiantly seems to be the number one choice. Hopefully we might get a deal I the week on it.

The Samsung monitors look really nice also and the 3d option is included? Which is a good saving. Are you saying the 3d part will not work with a gtx680.

With an Nvidia graphics card you are best sticking with a monitor that works with the nvidia 3D vision2 system - since you can take advantage of the rather good 3D drivers as well as "lightboost" - which increases brightness (to help offset the dimming effect of the glasses).

It is possible to use one of the samsung 3D monitors, tridef software and an Nvidia card - but this route is generally better if you are using an AMD card.

The 3D with Nvidia hardware is supposed to be limited to monitors with 3d vision capability. The monitors capable of running with it are generally not 3D ready monitors but only "3D vision" ready since Nvidia use their own hardware and software for 3D.

Samsung use their own technology to do an on-board 2D->3D conversion. It is good sometimes but not as good as Tri-Def. AMD's 3D offering is based on the Tri-Def software as they do not do their own 3D, they rely on the use of 3rd party software from companies such as Tri-Def. The Samsung monitors are bundled with Tri-Def software and you can download the latest one for free. I think Samsung incorporate Tri-Def into either their monitors or bundle it as a deal.
