new 4300 build, no boot :(

I'm having a very similar problem. I've RMA's the mobo (DS4) and cpu (e6300) and both tested ok. I'd be interested to hear what your problem was in the end!

for godness sake i dont know, I am probably just going to go drop the CPU off as well just in case. I feel totally at a loss because i just can't fix it!

I share your pain my friend. If I had any hair, I would pull it out, but it fell out already!

Sincerely, good luck and hope it's sorted soon. My saga has been going on since before xmas. :(

My friend got an Asus MB yesterday and has had to take it back to OCUK, he said it was bent.

for those interested, I got hold of a differnet compatible motherboard and the machine still wouldn't post.

Now apparently the CPU is the borked part!

Now I am getting more and more worried! Got an email from OCUK to say they had posted the replacement. No word on what the problem was, but since they haven't charged me £10 I can only assume the board was faulty when they tested it?

 you mean he had a gay motherboard :D

Well it might have been, guess what he got his new board today and it won't boot just the green light on it, no fans no beeps nothing.

He also said that the manual was the worst he's ever had and the wires are so tricky to fit.

Have a look at the email they sent. They don't always charge the £10, even if they do, it takes a couple of days to register on your card. Here's how to decipher their email:

Goods Shipped:
£0.00 x 1 - *RMA* Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Means no fault found, returning your original.

Goods Shipped:
£0.00 x 1 - Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Means fault found, replacement sent.

Still waiting to hear back on any info whether its faulty or not

Got mine back from ocuk yesterday. No word on what the problem was though. I haven't had the time to do anything with it though.

oops, didn't see you post. Just checked and the email they sent is the first option - returned original?

In which case I am a bit stumped to work out what is wrong! The CPU itself?

Found the problem with my mates board it was a four pin connector that was in the wrong way around.( I think he said it was four pins).
Anyhow it did boot up but still to install XP.

Replaced the mobo finally it did prove to be faulty, getting the same problem now, just spoke to tech support they believe it could be the fact that the P5Ne needs to be flashed to recognise the 4300. Beats me too!

I got my P5N-E SLI running with an e4300 on the org 0202 bios, so imho a bios flash isnt necessary to run a 4300 on the P5N-E SLI.

Thanks for the info, this didn't turn out to be the problem, I got it replaced and it all worked first time. Now to find out why my x1950 pro will always crash thru 3dmark06 in vista........ or any game for that matter.

How are you finding overclocking on this board with the chip? If you have any help you could tell me to get it going that would be appreciated!
