Thanks to a little mishap I now need a new TV. The old one is a 49" LG and I've been very happy with it so I was thinking of going for another LG but, of course, am open to suggestion. It absolutely MUST be from Currys, no exceptions. I was also thinking about going for a 55" as well.

Budget is this side of £800 so OLED is out of range at the moment.

So far I have This 55" LG, this 55" Samsung or at the very very top end of my budget, this 55" Panasonic. Do Panasonic still make their own panels? And LG/Sony? There's been so much money changing hands and licencing deals I'm never quite sure who's trading on their name, while the TV's are made in Turkey by Vestel and are rubbish.

That's only a 50" and ideally I wanted a 55".

Fair enough. I thought your thread wanted anything between 49 and 55 ;)

But also the EX700 can be had for £639 I at PC world with a code. Which is a very good price. So much so I'll be getting one myself.

A great 50 inch is better than an average 55 inch I'd say.

Damnit between last night and now that seems to have gone up 100 quid . Gah!

I don't think Curry's has any of the genuine samsung 10bit 2016 ks series left, so at sub £800 will be a 8bit+frc panel,
the 2016 LG 49"850V would not be a bad IPS solution and put £200 in your pocket - they have it on 'sale' in Currys for a while
(still happy with an older ips pany myself)

The pan ex series are using MVA panels LG I believe,
vestel(TurkeY) tagging has died down, I do not know if that is careful marketting, but have been happy with build on older Pan
few reviews on ex, but the avforums suggested older dx750 has better (motion etc) processing than newer ex700 (do you watch sport/f1)
edit review from browser history

A motivation for a 2017 tv maybe utube 4k hdr support, or dolby vision, but I do not know what tv's genuinely support these.
