Hi guys,

I am looking for a new TV and have decided that if I can get a good deal I may as well just go with a 4K one.

My budget is around £700 but preferably less if possible.

There is one that I have been looking at: Samsung UE40JU6500. This currently has a trade-in promotion for old TV's making is about £700 on some websites with a 5 year warranty.

Does anyone have any experience with this specific TV's or any alternatives?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the responses guys.

The LED TV's I have seem have a pretty good picture but I'm not an expert. The TV does look pretty good value compared to others. Just worried about the lack of reviews on it.

I would consider a 4K monitor but they tend to be more expensive for the size I'm looking for. The problem I have is I can't seem to justify buying a 1080p TV now that 4K seems to be becoming the norm.

I've just been reading about this TV: PANASONIC VIERA TX48AX630B.

Apparently it doesn't support HEVC so cannot playing 4K content from something like Netflix. Is this true?

Well I have to be honest I never made this thread expecting there to be a large discussion around plasmas.

Should I be looking at 1080p plasmas then?

It doesn't sound like many people are fans of 4K lol...

I have the Samsung mentioned above but the 55" version. It uses a VA panel so has nice deep blacks. It's £699 and tbh I think it's fantastic for the money and although only 1080p it's gives great results.

Not sure I would be spending that much on a 2nd hand plasma TV but that's me.

A pic just for the hell of it...... :-)

Which model is that?

I would personally just pick up the Samsung 1080p 50" incher that is on the TV adverts for £350. Bargain. All this talk about calibration and noticing a difference in the picture is just silly. If you stick a bluray on the picture looks great either way.

Which model is this please?

It's a good tv tbh, As for the, you wont see any difference rubbish, you can clearly tell it's higher than a 1080p picture when in 4k.

I have the 55'' version and the new Firefox OS works really well, It does 4K from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Vimeo,Usb and via the network, it also up scales pretty well in my opinion.

PS4 looks stunning on it, with 4k the recommended minimum distance you can sit to is 0.75 x the height of the Tv whereas with 1080p is 3x the height.

Sometime next month Freeview play will launch as well, so it will get all the catch up apps, with a newer and hopefully quicker 7 day roll back guide.

What is it like for standard definition? Unfortunately I will be watching some standard definition content on the odd occasion, not very often though.

And just to make sure this model is definitely compatible with Netflix 4K?

Thanks :)
