Hi there everybody. Uni is starting back soon and I thought I'd look into a new build to accompany my new house. I'll need a full system, tower, monitor(preferably a 1680x1050), keyboard and mouse etc. I can use the Windows 7RC i guess to save money.
Been thinking of AMD as the lga775 isnt going anywhere and i7 is obv way out of budget. But if you can spec an intel system within budget I dont mind!

Anyway budget of £500-£600 max.
Thanks.

This is your best bet, yeah use w7RC, if you want to save a bit you could trim the monitor down a bit

Edit: you didnt mention kb/mouse/speakers so i dint include

Nice spec there thanks. I did mention KB, mouse...not speakers tho i forgot about that but they can be had for a tenner if need be :P. I wont need a HDD that big tho, i have one of those in my main system and its nowhere near full :D

More ideas welcome!

Whats the overclocking like on that chip? Perhaps a tri core would be better? I may be able to get a cheaper monitor elsewhere...

Think it holds the current world record of over 7GHz, so pretty good, obv this is using silly liquid nitrogen set ups, you aint gonna get that on air, but it should get to 4

Were all being quiet as thrifles has probably given you the best spec that we could come up with.
Solid build and your getting some v.good performance for a £600 system with a monitor.

You could probably OC to 3.4 - 3.6 with the AMD stock cooler and that case, they are good little chips :)
