New 6600k build wont boot.

For anyone running the MSI Z170A gaming M7 motherboards.

Be aware that MSI released a new BIOS (version 1.6) on the 3/9/2015

- Improved NVME device compatibility.
- Improved memory compatibility.
- Updated GOP driver and VBIOS.
- Updated Microcode.
- Patched PS2 Keyboard sometimes can not work normally.

Looks also to me like they've been tweaking the voltage control on it as well.

As on installing BIOS version 1.6 ... my stock Vcore in the BIOS has dropped from pretty high 1.288v to 1.224v. Now that's more like it. Every article that I've read about the I7-6700K says that it should be capable of running at around 1.2v ... Looks like MSI were listening.

Voltage control under heavy load also appears to have been significantly improved. Prime 95 / IBT for me would see a voltage of 1.356! with spikes of up to 1.4v+ Not nice really. Now Prime 95 and IBT draw a steady 1.28v and no apparent nasty voltage spikes. This is much better folks. And my temps running IBT have dropped from around 70C to 60C (10 runs on high). Should give some serious overclocking headroom for me :D:D:D

PS. Anyone having any issues with this board and maybe suspecting memory compatibility problems, definitely wants to try this BIOS.

Nice one Mikeo will upgrade to that later on :)

also regarding the Uefi/Legacy thing mine was doing the same on a fresh install, whilst it was in that mode it would only boot from the boot device, not the SSD that the fresh boot was installed on. Changed it to Uefi only and it boots fine now.

Very strange indeed, still a lovely board though!
