Hi, I'm new to this forum, just like to ask a quick question, I purchased a 7800GTX, on monday, recieved today, but was wondering why it says on the back '7800GT', and it does not have the back metal plate to cool the memoy chips?, I havent tried it yet, it has a single slot cooler and when I bought frm OCUK it said it was a XFX 7800GTX ULTRA Extreme Edition.(b-grade version)

I think the pic of the box says it all; it's a gt not a gtx. Don't worry though, just give them a bell tomorrow and let them know. They'll have an record of your order and they'll talk you through the return.

will do tomorrow morning, thanks for all your help, really appreciated. Well I thought £150 for a GTX was a bargain, but not for a 7800GT. does anyone have their contact number?

Yup looks like you may have got a 7800GT

Here's what my 7800GTX box looks like for the record...

EDIT: However comparing your box to my box the artwork is almost identical. Only way to be 100% certain is to hook up your card to your PC, once this is done the nvidia control panel will tell you if it's a GT or GTX

(Crikey I need to hoover my carpet :D )

and stop taking pictures of hardware boxes :p

send the mo-fo back mate, already read a few of these ****-ups where the naming has gone horribly wrong.

Yep it is a 7800gt. However, it seems that both GTX and GT box look quite simular.

Btw. You are not the only one waiting to play Oblivion. Im waiting for my replacment on x1900xt too.

Welcome to the forums. :)

You may just get a refund if they don't have any GTX's left in the B-Grade, theres normally only one or two, and i doubt they would give you something else as they can only replace it with equal, or better, but you never know as the only card left in there thats better is the x1900 Crossfire card. :D

Well gave them a call today, and they gave me two options,

1) Either a full refund or
2) A £30 credit, which will set me back £130 for a 7800GT (as I assume it is as it says as the back of the Graphics Card.) Is this really worth it as I'm not sure, as I currently have a X800GTO(16pipes with 540/540) and struggling with Oblivion at 1280X720(high settings). Should I go for a refund, and hang on for something better?

Just tried the card and it was a 7800 GT, gets 3924 in 3Dmark 06,(with 3.0GHz pentium D processor, 1gb ram, 81.98 forceware drivers), gonna send it back for a refund, just out of curiousity, What do you get in 3d Mark 06 with a 7900 GT?
