Hey guys purchased the Palit(Ocuk VAlue) 7900GS 512MB from OcUK yesterday and just messed about with it for the first time there!

So a quick first run on 06 gave me a score of :

Pretty decent score.

SO I decided lets run ATi Tool and see what happens? well I need help from someone here as does it actually find artifacts on these cards? or do you need to use the old method of scanning. The card reached a GPU core of 682mhz before I decided I better stop until I found a surefire test :) but if it can indeed reach that then....omfg! Think I need to use the other scanning method tho!

Anyways quick detect on NVidia COntrol Panel told me 637mhz core and 1.57ghz mem!

To play it safe a quick run on 3D Mark 06 with the core running at 600mhz and the mem at 1.5ghz:

As you can see a very nice increase! 1000points in 06! I'll need to look into OC'n the cpu however but that aint working for now. Also I pretty much believe this card will go even higher, great clocker on the standard fan!

Anyone think I got a bit lucky? Certainly I must have if this card reaches what I think it may just do!

what are these good for generall, i heard 600 on core at least?

JUst depends really on your luck, as I said ati tool was showing up 680 odds with mines before i stopped it, wasnt sure on the artifacting as I was expecting to have seen some so I got worried and stopped the check. My mem will max around 1.57ghz which is very good!

Unfortunately im having big problems doing anything to my cpu :(

coolbit auto's mine at 500/750 but im gonna push for more.

Also, coolbits is lame as it causes all my game to sort of scramble during loading so i cant use it..

mine did a shocking! 715mhz on the core with a volt-mod, there good overclockers, gonna set up watercooling soon so should keep these things cooler, i get just shy of 6000 in 3D mark '06 with a single card, good cards for a little over 130 pounds

Excellent score there m8 thats a nice card you have there.

My advice would be let ATI Tool run until it artifacts or crashes for both core and memory. You need to find its limits :D

YEah il run it tonyte, plus I think ATi tool runs the clocks more stable as iv seen some artifacts running the mhz via collbits and not when I run ATi Tool, very stange indeed

nice overclock :) - i'm running a standard palit 7900GS 256mb and keep the gpu core clocked @ 600Mz stable. The double slot quiet air cooler works a treat keeping gpu temps 41-57 max under load.
With a single core opteron 146 (o/[email protected]) my 3Dmark06 scores is around 4370 @ 600/1400
Looks like u got better memory in your board as i can't clock mine at more than about 1400 (1350 ref) without artifacts but the GPU is the same (great overclocker) and clocking the memory doesn't make a great improvement.

ther's another palit thread here:

Its debatable if the 512 version is worth £30 more than the 256 mb versions which can be found for under £100+vat

Also there has been a problem with some early 7900's failing deep freeze tests - (graphic memory related) hopefully its now sorted.

Yeah I have gotten very lucky memory wise as on my initital coolbits tests and on the later ones the mem still reaches 1.57ghz which makes me believe the memory also will have a bit more give on ATiTool :)
As we all know with these cards its luck of the draw.
The one garantee you have is the core being pretty damn good tho!

Card is now running stable at 630Mhz Core and 1.5ghz mem! :)
Not volt modding required, on standard cooler too (even though it is a good un)

Gonna push the memory on the card a bit later on tho!

Also Motherboard limitations mean I cant OC my Core 2 Duo :( I'll get a new mobo after xmas tho! :)

So my score is now 5281!

if i clock mine, it makes my games crap out, no artifacts or anything, just starts fine then goes weird, if i exit to windows and then go back the games its fine for a while, then it does it again

are u using nvidia collbits and their control panel to do this?
My games were freaking out completely when I used these clock settings in games but when set with ATi Tool they work fine

Awsome cards, i've been well happy with mine since new,

mines currently running at 580/739 in VDO tool.

and temps are less than 60 at all time.

ent got arround to getting 3dmark06 yet might do it later will be good to test this properally :D

but yea awsome as cards! can't want for the new abit 680i mobo so i can go sli :D
