I just got the Asus 3gb 7970 matrix platinum delivered after it went on offer the other day, but it is far to big for my case & motherboard. This is my current set up,

also have a CPU cooler not included on that, cpu is overclocked to 4.3 ghz.

can you recommend a new case & motherboard that will support my current components + the new GPU, a motherboard of equal or better that is a similar price possible, as I overclock so want that available?

thanks

You don't need a new motherboard to overclock that CPU, the Z77X-D3H is more than able to do this.

So you just need a new case then? what budget do you have in mind?

is it just the case that's too big for the new GPU then? because it wouldn't fit in, the metal bit on the bottom of the gpu that like screws into the case was too big, don't know if thats just the case, or the motherboard too?

erm if its just the case, say £100 budget?

Can you get a picture up?

Are you saying that because the card is three slots thick you cant get it into the motherboard/case?

You are fitting this gfx card to the top 16X slot right and not the 2nd or 3rd 16X length slots?

Does it look like the length of the card will go into the case and not interfere with any of the HDD cages or drives?

yeh ill try get a pic, its definitely to big for the case I think as 1 end of it is nearly going into the HDDs etc, i think it has enough room regarding slots, but its just the metal part at the front where it screws into case, like the bottom is too long and you cant plug it into the motherboard because the metal part touches first, I not sure though on a bigger case if that would just slot down the side of the case so it can plug in properly? its the metal part where the HDMI slots etc are, also the 8pin cable that came with the gpu seems to small to reach from the PSU to the GPU :/

It sounds like the motherboard screws need to be slackened off a bit to then try a slide the back of the motherboard PCB away from the rear of the case a bit to the enable those three metal bits as you call them to slide between the motherboard pcb edge and the case rear?

hmm yeh that could be it, ill have a look and take pics if I can, basically can anyone confirm they have the Z77X-D3H motherboard working with the 7970 matrix platinum? least ill know if it is the case or not hmm

I see no reason why the card wouldn't fit because of the board:confused:

By the sounds of it, the card is too big for your case due to your HDD bay?

Edit-looking at pics of the case i can't see it causes any issues.

Try what Stulid has suggested and report back.
