My friend is looking to buy some components to build a PC for around £850. He will be using it mostly for games. No keyboard, mouse or monitor needed, just the case and components.
He has searched through the forums and found these build, and wants suggestions, and if necessary, other completely different builds.

This build was in budget when he found it but has now increased in price due to the sales finishing on some of the items.

I'm not a fan of the Merc case (only 1 fan and no USB3) and I don't think you get free P&P in malta lol You are definitely better at spec'ing than your bud though :)

That's what I'd consider. The modular PSU will help with cable management and airflow. The better SSD is on pre-order so the cheaper modular PSU alternatives might be in stock by the time that comes in.

It's just to give you an idea, it's a little cheaper than your spec and if you ditch the heatsink for now it should be bang on the money :)

Thanks for all the suggestions!
honosuseri's build is our favourite especially because of the modular PSU and the corsair case which seems to have much more airflow than the other 2.

He'll be sticking with the CPU cooler because for a bit over the budget to get the CPU cooler.

I get too much practice lol The Shinobi is better than the Merc but the non windowed ones still only have one 120mm fan.

I agree it's less faff if you just fit a good cooler from the get go. Whilst I do like the 7870LE (Tahiti core) as it OC's to match a 7950, I wouldn't pay £200 for one. The Nvidia 670 is a cutdown 680 but they cut off very little just overclock it to close the gap. You also get CUDA support and PhysX support for the games that use it. The 670 was a £300 GPU till the 770 landed, the 770 is a "Super Duper" 680 but the 670 shouldnt be sniffed at.
