New 8Mb connection...only got 2Mb speeds

I'm currently with Freenetname on their 2Mb package.

I recently received an e-mail asking if I wanted to upgrade, FOC, to their 8Mb service.

I agreed.

Today I received an e-mail stating the upgrade was complete.

I reset my router (Netgear DG834), as instructed. When I reconnected I was informed by the router status display that my new downstream connection speed was 7616kps.

Great more speed!

However, whenever I use any of the "test your line speed" sites such as http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

I'm told my speed is around 2Mb.

Any ideas?

Ok, I'm fine with the waiting, but why is it my router shows the new, faster speed, when I am not actually getting it?

I'd understadn if it showed the slower speed for a few days, but not too sure why its showing faster speed currently.
