new 990fx mobo thoughts guys?

So my trusty sabertooth 990fx has died on me

Tried all other components in my sons pc and all work

So definitely the board

Now wondering if anyone knows if the new gigabyte g1 gaming 990fx is good for overclocking?

as my 8350 was @ 4.8GHz on sabertooth

Its cheaper hence why I'm considering it and don't want to drop huge money on a new board just to tide me over till I can afford x99 upgrade later this year!

Never owned gigabyte mobo any help be great or another board around that price

Have crossfire fury x also if that helps

Needs to be a good clocker well vrm power delivery then

Gigabyte boards are generally decent and with a UK RMA centre, support is also good. If it's got good VRM cooling, then you'll be fine. From what I can tell, it does have a VRM heatsink, so it's not as bad as some of the more basic AM3+ boards.

I have been around AMD for years and familiar with most boards have used most of them in client builds

it was the new gigabyte g1 board I'm not sure of as its new on market

Just wondered if anyone knew more was all. From what i have read about it seems ok vrm was my concern, there not known for great vrm cooling for AMD boards at least

Brought it now due tomorrow so we will see I guess

Worst case scenario I'll stick my universal koolance water blocks on the vrm off my sabertooth

i would take a dead board as a chance to move platforms.

a 7 year old 2500K @ 4.4Ghz as more performance.
with that taken into account a dead board would time to move to 1150 or 1151

It's effectively an updated ud5 which had very strong vrm and phase circuit anyway.
Gigabyte skimped on the ud3 rev3. But since being found out they haven't built s bad bosrd since.
Even their matx 78lmt usb3 could hold an fx8.at 1.45v. Remember with gugabyte you use offset voltage and disable apm.

I plan on a x99 platform build so moving to 1150 is not in my plan

So the AMD board is just to tide me over and as a gaming system only the 8350 does fine for me @ 4.8ghz and my crossfire fury x it maxes anything I play @1440 with ease while streaming as well. Old it may be but the 8350 is still a strong cpu for its price range

And wanted a cheap board untill i have saved enough for my x99 build nearer Christmas I just don't have cash for all components for Intel board atm

there's not much info on it as its so new and never owned a gigabyte board thanks for the info the vrm was a concern for me, have the board now came today and the heat sink looks good from some gigabyte boards I've seen

The tear down of all my hardline has began right pain just built. In my new case, one good think get to test my drain loop lol.

I use offset anyways to save power and down clock while idle on the sabertooth currently,
prefer offset myself helps with heat as well, although I have a 480mm and a 360mm on dual loop cooling system anyways so heats not a issue lol
