My other half's laptop (I am a fair distan ce from me so I can't exactly help her) She was running it fine since just after new year (I was there with her) so she had it all running fine no drams. THEN wednesday night came. Windows decided it wanted to do a update (it's windows 11) she called me in a fit of panic. She got erm winload.efl is missing. Error message 0x0000000d I been trying to help her say create a windows 11 install USB wasn't doing the repair options with that. Tried to do a fresh install wouldn't let me either erm not sure what else I can do? as I said I a bit of a distance away so I can't exactly jump down help her/ Tried to help her with a whatsapp call was no good so erm........help!
 
There's something you could try on this page:

We can first try to recreate the boot files, but if they don't work you'll need to do a clean Windows install.

For that first you will need to create a Windows installation USB, just follow the thread below.

After creating the installation USB proceed.

1. Boot with the Pen Drive;
2. When the installation window appears, click Repair your computer;
3. Click Troubleshooting;
4. Advanced options;
5. Command Prompt;
6. Type the commands below and press Enter at the end of each one:

diskpart

list volume

select volume X (You need to select the volume labeled ESP here, change the letter X by the volume number referring to ESP);

assign letter=T

exit

bcdboot C:\Windows /s T: /f UEFI

After it finishes, close the Command Prompt and restart the computer and check if Windows starts normally.
