“Summary of Changes in 7.07.24
• Updated Win32 driver installation path – Fixes some error messages and failures during installation
• Update to 2.7.1 runtime to further improve PhysX HW operation during GRAW2
• Highly Recommended upgrade for GRAW2
• Update to 2.7.2 runtime– recommend for UE3 engine developers
• Updates to app.bin for most active SDK runtimes
• Required update for PhysX PCIe cards.“

Might be usefull for none PPU people who have GRAW2 problems.

Didnt even know it was out. Going look into it. Perhaps its comeing out soon. Or they mean the PCIe inbuilt to some motherboards. But that one works with older drivers so I think they mean a new version.

Last I heard from Ageia about 1 year ago PCIe wouldn’t be any faster but who knows that’s changed since then. Ageia also said they wouldn’t be brining out new PPU’s often like we get with GPU’s.

In theory a PPU could do Havok FX and speed it up but Ageia would need to pay the licence free. The licence fee is stupidly expensive which is why I guess no developers use Havok FX. As there’s no games that use it its not a big loss.

Havok FX user’s GPU and PPU’s. Normal Havok is for CPU’s only so couldn’t be made to work with a PPU.

The problem with the game list is we don’t tend to find out if there’s Ageia support until after the games out. Personally I am looking forward to Scared 2. Bioware are working on something and there games tend to be AAA+.

“read the anandtech right up of where ppu is going. exactly what i've said all along, its basically ageia's last 3 -6 months before they are completely and utterly dead.”
That is just crazy they are doing far to well to die in 3 to 6months.

“now seems that all GRAW 2's improvements via the PPU can be turned on without the card and it runs fine.”
That’s not true. 90% of the new effects don’t work on the CPU. Just the extra particles. You also get a speed loss with the CPU. You cannot turn all the PPU effects on and do it via the CPU.

“1st level physics are interative physics, you touch a box, it reacts, thats physics. 2nd level physics is, you touch a box, it reacts, it shatters, the 1st level engine asks the 2nd level engine how the box shatters, where the particles go and tells the gpu to draw them.”
Now you’re just making stuff up and it’s wrong as well. Both the 1st and 2nd level stuff you talk about all are the same thing in this case

”its all 2nd level physics. there is still nothing at all that effects gameplay and improves gameplay. ALL they can do so far is ADD MORE effects and particles which still need to be joined.12”
They didn’t say that and that’s flat out wrong. The PPU does gameplay physics as its been proven time and time again you just like to ignore evidence for some reason. Its not all 2nd level physics a term which you made up. If by 2nd level you mean effects physics you’re still wrong as the PPU does using your teams lvl 1 physics.

Everyone else calls it effects physics not 2nd level.

“the engine that decides how you can interact with a box/gun/player is NOTHING to do with the part that decides how a box is drawn and split”
The part of the engine which decides how objects interact with the player is done by the PPU. That and your wrong again the same part of an engine that decides how you can interact with a box is the same part that splits the box. Its not two engines its all done by one API 99% of the time.
