Ok so i shamefully stole this from another forum, and not sure if it is old here!?

Dear god it looks amazing, the physics, the environment, and in realtime gameplay

The alan wake part is about 10 mins in i think.

Very nice, but QUAD processor to run it nicely? Hmmm, and they've overclocked it as well, so I guess we'll have to wait a little while for a reasonably cheap machine to be able run this game, or just get it on the 360 :p

Looks great,if you can afford a system to run it.Overclocked quad core & how many gfx card are in there ?

Also interesting that they are using a full core for physics, does that spell the end for physics cards ?

Well, with Crysis and now this using cores on the CPU rather than a dedicated PPU its not the end but its certainly not what they wanted.

Id guess Dual core would be enough, but I bet a game like this is still 5 years away, by then will be able to find OctoCore pcs left on the side of the streets in Wembley.

It looked amazing but it all depends on what the gameplay is actually like and how long the whole thing lasts.

I hope during play its a bit like Twin Peaks :D

Looks good but 'simply not possible on single core'? Remedy's publisher isn't going to like that, as it'd sell about four copies. I bet you any some of money the (min) requirements will be a lot lower than that.

Simply put, why wouldnt anyone develop a game where 75% of there customers couldnt run the game?

To get half this forum to buy the kit required to play it perhaps? It is the way forward.
There is a lot to look farward to in this respect, quadcore and dual gfx cards, I mean ATI just teamed up with AMD, some would say the ultimate partnership.

We can only win as consumers from displays and competitions like this

Well unless prices drop or pay increases i highly doubt if the game is released within the next 3 years it will do well.

Competitions are fine and i agree are good for customers, but if you push to far to fast, no one will go for it.

Hydrogen Fuel cells are a prime example.

Oh I agree that progess is good but don't assume that the average consumer is as fanatical as some people here putting in quad cores and SLI graphics cards etc. The majority of the market is probably (I'm not an expert) Purple Shirt jobbies and the like. You programme as quad core minimum spec, no one will be able to play it. Of course strong engines scale well. I remember getting Unreal. Ran like a dog on recommended systems when it came out, but as everyone starting adopted new technologies, it came into its own.
