is it safe to overclock a cpu after you have put it in the system, say a few hours later or should i leave it a few days first?

also after reading i dont want to go above 60c underload ie. running prime95 and it will throttle about 65c right?

and 1.5 is the max voltage?

i will see what i can get this bad boy stable at with my system, hopefully just leaving the voltage on auto setting in the bios and raising the multiplier

thanx

Overclock straight away will be fine just keep an eye on temps

correct. you may get throttling before depending on your mobo and VRM cooling

you can go to 1.6 but not reccommended keep it at arounf 1.55 very max.

I get throttling above 68C, there is some overhead to the 62C which AMD recommend but I would try and keep it <65C certainly and then only while testing and benching. 55C for normal usage.

I have used up to 1.52V during benching at 5.0GHz, others have gone higher. usually you will get thermal issues with the motherboard at high volts unless your airflow is good in the case and the CPU cooling is very good.

Hi, as soon as my PC was built up and running overclocked my i7 920 to 4.0GHz them to 4.2GHz nearly 4 years ago with no problems.
