I noticed when i did a fresh windows install that with out the amd drivers & optimizer that my games ran nowhere near as smoothly.
But i would say the amd cpu drivers have a bigger effect on my setup if they are not there, but ppl say that they are only for cool&quiet.

I install the AMD CPU driver, as I have found performance to improve afterwards. But with the "optimizer" I found it slower.

I installed from the begining the cpu drivers and the optimizer so I don't know if my system runs better without them but I doubt it as i don't think AMD created the dual C Opt. to slowdown computers but I think in some cases could happen due to imcompatibilities with another software like for ex. I notice than my pc runs better if I reinstall the gfx drivers after the optimizer.

I installed the previous optimizer and found i had bsod errors, since unistalling it my system is stable again.

when you are gaming how far the cpu usage goes? over 50%?

In my case with the DCO between 50 and 70%. I will try without the optimizer to see what happens.
