Hi

I've just got a new Apple TV this weekend and I've just finishing setting it up

Like it so far (although wish I'd gone for the 160GB version instead of the 40) but it runs very very hot. It doesn't have any fans or vents which does suprise me as it's basically a cut down Mac Mini inside

Does any one elses Apple TV run hot? Is this normal?

Thanks

Alistair

I've read in a few different places that they run hot so I think its normal.

Also, I thought the processor was a 1Ghz custom intel chip? (i.e. not a Core Duo like the Mac Minis)

Thanks for the reply

Yep it's a custom 1GHz Intel chip with 256MB of ram. The new Mac Minis have the Core Duos but I was thinking along the lines of a cut down old G4 type Mac Mini :)

Really liking it

It connected to my wireless network on first switch on without any issues and I easily updated it to the latest firmware

It can either stream music off your PC (handy as it's the 40GB version) or Sync your photos/movies/etc onto the hard drive so you can access them with the PC switched off. All rather easy!

The menu system is nice to use and easy to navigate. The movie trailers, TV episodes, etc all work well and stream quickly off the Apple site in HD. The sound quality off it sounds fine too - this is via the analogue connection through some cheap PC speakers, not via the optical link
