New artificial grass - loose bits

I see more and more fake grass getting fitted where I live.

It makes for a depressing, sterile looking sight especially when not fitted properly leaving wrinkles all over it.

The increasing areas now being turned to fake grass is going to do nothing but harm wildlife and increase flooding risks as well as pollute the environment with plastic waste from manufacturing it and also from microplastics as the grass wears over time.

It also reduces carbon consumption as well as increasing environmental warming as it doesn't absorb either of these.

It should be banned, not lauded as the future.

Edit - I'll ask for any argument as to the pros of this stuff over and above personal preference and practicality of use.

Are there any benefits outside of human convenience?

100% agree

All the new houses in my area have had problems with the gardens because the builders lay turf on unprepared ground, if the grass survives at all it gets water-logged - so of course people look for alternatives. If you want less fake grass or paving that'd be a good place to start.
It doesn’t matter how well drained your lawn is particularly in a north facing garden that gets little sun during the winter your lawn will essentially be unusable unless you want to turn it into a squelchy bog!

Realising I have not performed today on this I apologise. Pictures have been taken but what with gardening, running sprinklers, cleaning patios and shopping, I have not uploaded them.

My camera, a Canon G5 of 2003 vintage needs a Windows XP virtual machine to run its software and the missus has been monopolising my desktop computer looking for second hand furniture and other odds and ends.

Tomorrow is Sunday, supposed day of rest so give me a break and I will do my best. :)

Oh man I remember lusting over a G5 back in the day. I hear kids are buying these vintage cameras so check out eBay and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Off topic I know but I had a G10 Which I broke on a mountainside. Needing a camera I would not necessarily mind dropping I did buy this, on Ebay, for £10 supposedly spares or repairs. So far I have not had any issues (excepting XP) and it takes very good pictures of the 4MP variety. It is a keeper.

But one can sit inside and watch birds eating worms with proper grass. I don't strive for a manicured lawn either, the 'weeds' are some of the first to flower and the bees love it.
I can watch the wildlife in my raised beds, planters hedge and the birds on my feeders. Artificial grass doesn’t mean no planting or nature.

Gardens aren't just ornamental, many of us actually want to use them. Whether that's kicking a football with the kids, playing badminton, having a BBQ or running around with pets. They aren't just for sitting in...
This is why I don't get the hate for fake grass, it's not like I'm trying to force other people to have it! If people like real grass and it suits there garden and the way they use it then great but for me with a really small garden that gets used a lot year round fake is a no brainer, if I ever move to somewhere with a bigger south facing garden I'll reassess my requirements but for now I'm happy and will ignore the cancer scare stories because I didn't turf my garden with a rubber crumb filled 3g football pitch!
