New Asus monitor, cant see windows desktop!

Hey guys,

As per the title, I just received my new Asus pa248q and although I can see the post screen and windows loading screens, when it gets to the desktop stage all I can see is a blank screen and mouse cursor.

Any ideas whats wrong? do I need to un-install my old monitor drivers (if there are any?) / install new ones? help need urgently!! - thanks
 
Sorry for this crazy thread, but for some reason when I install Nvidia drivers on the next boot the desktop is black again.

Any ideas why the Nvidia drivers might cause this? thanks!
 
sounds like the driver thinks their are 2 monitors connected, and that your new screen is the secondary one.

when you go to screen resolution, click identify,and see which number is displayed. it should be a number 1

Yeah your so right... turns out the desktop was showing on my TV which was off...too embarrassed right now...... *blush*

On a positive note... what a flippin awesome monitor...stunning colour accuracy :D:D:D
