Like the title says really. I built the machine up and am very happy, but as i began do go in and make sure the ram is set correctly and see what some of the asus utils do i noticed that Asus Probe said that my cpu was running at 2ghz and not 2.66 that it should be.
The cpu that i have is the 6750, the bios says that it's 2.66 (333 x 8), so then i tried cpu-z and that says that its 2ghz (333 x 6, same as what asus says).

Now i will admit that i am still trying to find my way around the bios. Anyone with this board, would appreciate any pointers as will be looking to do some clocking at some point. Anyway i take it when it says FSB strap frequency that is the multi?

Either that or can anyone let me know what settings i should have :p

You have Speedstep enabled (C1E and EIST).

This really should be made a sticky. There's atleast 2 similar posts on the front page of this forum at the time of writing this.

ah right thanks, just searched for speedstep and see what you mean. Kinda hoped thats what it was. Will prob leave it alone then.

Thanks

Ahh yeah, that'll be it. I mis-read; thought it was reporting the lower speeds in the BIOS itself.

SpeedStep is fine to leave turned on though, the CPU should switch to full speed instantly when it's needed. Just saves on heat and power when it's not.

Me? No idea actually, just installed it though so I'll find out. Just need to wait for it to defrag. :)

Edit: Right, done. 5739 points...seems decent. How about yourself?

6121, must be down to drivers or something i guess. Atleast we know we are about right. All we need now is a new gpu each ! :p

Haha, I definitely wouldn't turn one down, not spending any more money on this PC for a while though. I'm actually quite impressed with how well this 1900XT is handling new games; doesn't seem to be struggling at 1680x1050.

The latest bios is 0802 but i'm still using 0503 pity Asus don't have release notes on the bios so don't know what they actually fix.

yeah same here, its gone through Stalker and now Bioshock without struggling, but like you it needs to hold up a bit longer yet.

Yeah, bios's are odd things, just seem to get released but nobodu knows much about them, could google i guess, will be out there somewhere. Although unless i actually find a problem then i kinda stick with what works.
