Hi everyone, I was hoping to gain some input into my P6X58D-E build which i should be doing this week.

My components:

i7 930
Asus P6X58D-E
6GB Patriot Tri-Channel RAM
XFX Radeon HD5850 XXX Graphics Card
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache HD
Corsair H50-1 CPU cooler
Antec Sonata Case (Mk1)
Corsair HX620W PSU
Creative X-Fi
Windows 7 Home 64bit

I hope to get the system to 4GHz from the get go.

I've assembled a few PCs in my time, so I'm not too worried about slapping it all together, but I am mindful that in the past I may not have gotten the optimum setup in terms of BIOS settings, correct driver/BIOS versions etc.

What ASUS drivers/BIOS I should be using for the best chance of a stable rig with no hardware troubles?

I built mine on this board last week but I'm having trouble with it which I think could be RAM related.

With regards to bios/driver my board came with the latest bios (303 I think) and I just downloaded all the drivers from the asus site. I got the latest intel drivers from their site and installed them (ICH10R ones). Apart from my RAM problems everything has been fine.

I built an X58 system a month or two ago, using the i7 930, Asus P6X58D-E, 6GB Patriot Viper PC3-12800 ram and Thermalright Venomous X cooler (with 2 Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm fans).

The only problem I ran into was that only 4GB of ram was "seen" by the motherboard BIOS and Win 7 (64 bit), however, this was not caused by faulty ram, but by the cooler needing to have 4 fibrous washers inserted between cooler backplate and motherboard, which solved this.

The Patriot ram, 930 and P6X58D-E work well together...

I removed my cpu and reseated it and then put the H50 back on and tested it with Prime95 for 4 hours tonight and it's seems to be ok now.

I never had the RAM problem as I can see all 6GB of mine but I have read about it. Been skimming through that massive thread and loads of good info on that.

i did a build on this board with an i7 920, everything went smoothly.
happily chugging along at 3.4ghz.
the world is just too hot at the moment for me to consider 4ghz, maybe in winter.

What are your settings in the bios with your XMS3 RAM? Got the same RAM and need to change mine from the default.

Really pee'd off. The delivery guy from DPD had tried to deliver my OCuk order to a someone elses property (correct delivery address btw) and they were out so they dropped a calling card there. First I heard about it was when I checked the tracking service and see "delivery failed, no one home, calling card left" or words to that effect.

So 40 minutes after he attempted delivery at the wrong address, I ring up DPD and ask:
"Wheres my stuff? Wheres my calling card? Can you send him back over?"

They said "no, we can upgrade you for free to the next day delivery b4 12pm service and reattempt delivery tomorrow." So I offered to collect from their depot. "No we cant do that because you dont have a calling card, you'll have to wait until tomorrow"

WTF, so I take a day off loosing out on pay, stay in all day, having paid for next day delivery at £9.
Their driver delivers to the wrong address and then they say I can't collect MY parcels myself at my further expense today because I don't have a calling card that their driver delivered to someone else!!! Serious Logic injection and some customer service required I feel! Why the hell don't they ring up or something when the driver finds no one home, do you not think that if someone goes for next day delivery they may have made arrangements to receive the damned parcel? [/END RANT]

Yes all up and running. Booted first time with no problems, straight into BIOS, made some minor config tweaks and continued boot to Windows 7.

I then updated and installed a few drivers that Windows 7 had missed/didn't recognise and restarted to BIOS once again.

Not wanting to hang around, copied a profile from the net and on second boot I'm running 100% Prime95 stable at 3800Mhz! (79C max)

Now if only it was always that easy! I'll try for 4Ghz next, but want to make sure everything is as it should be before I hammer the poor thing!
