new avp same as mw2 :(

Simple answer to this kind of answer is NO. Why settle for second best when pc gaming has made the consoles what they are today. Pure and simple its lazy developing, if your not going to cater for the format which the games started out on. By the way its not QQ its simple fact i like my games on a DS not on someones host which does not provide for fair gameplay as the host will ALLWAYS have the advantage.
Gaming is generally more fun on a DS, people have allready mentioned why admins, new maps, clan wars ! I mean pc gaming is starting to lose its main method of competitve gaming. So Durzel if your one of the very few Pc gamers that doesnt mind, then you stick with your x box 360 , sorry i meant pc. For the rest of us we will stick with the superior method of gaming.
Learn to read eh? It's patently obvious you haven't read (or understood?) a single word of what that Digg guy wrote.

I'm one of those PC gamers who are disappointed with the way PC support is going (no DS, etc), but I'm a realist - if developers still sell millions of copies without spending the time/effort supporting the niche PC community then why should they bother? Why should they support a community that is filled with pirates and expects everything - including DLC - to be free? Goodwill doesn't pay the bills I'm afraid.

ps. I don't even own an Xbox, so well done there.

So people are speculating about something they don't know official details of and creating petitions based on this speculation? This is indeed a revelation!

When asked directly 3 times or so, the spokesperson (may well have been a dev, I can't remember tbh) avoided giving a direct answer as to whether or not AVP would use dedicated servers.

Next thing you know there are leaked screenshots of this p2p server lark. You don't need official details to see which way this is heading.

Funny enough, I was sitting here thinking - wow, that's a really excellent Digg post.

Betcha most of the people here will respond without even reading half of it :)

Does'nt look that bad to me.

It probably won't be. The problem is that you won't be able to frequent a regular server that you like because of admins, community, etc and the modding scene will be completely non-existent. No one will be able to re-create levels based on the movies, that sort of thing. We're going to be lumped with what they give us so best hope they get it right OOTB, as unlike MW2 this will be one I buy on release.

Unfortunately "the times" point to games becoming more and more "pick up and play".
There is nothing unfortunate about this. It was about time more games became pick up and play for the PC. As much as the loss of dedicated servers is harsh for some, it doesn't have to spell the end of modifications - I can't imagine it would be hard for the developer to add mods to matchmaking.

Imagine if BF1942 had matchmaking. The game could see that you had Desert Combat installed and start looking for players that run the mod, right? Obviously the system would have to be tweaked a little, but it could be done imo

I have no problem with not having a server browser as long as at the very least its like l4d and there are servers it connects to 3rd party server and its your choice.

The PS3 multiplayer gameplay was good and that was with one console hosting it and the others joining.

Hopefully pc gameplay will be the same but with better gfx and controls. Will only be the mod side of things that will suffer from the lack of dedicated servers.

Wasnt that out around 10 years ago though ? I remember buying it, you would think perhaps they would move with the times.

With the times?

Dedicated server options are the most basic way of doing things.

Not that i don't prefer it to what is on offer atm, but i am sure it will get better.
