Looks like 7 years is as long as an original lasts. Anyone recommend a good make? Looking around £100 tops for one... I've had a look around myself, and I'll be honest, most of the top ones all seem much fo a muchness. Anyone care to recommend one they've used?

id get a varta silver top. they make most batteries anyway before rebranding. used 1 in my last car and iv bought another to go in my current car

Varta is what I got. Slightly bigger than old battery, only "just" fits in the plastic holder. Started first time. What got me was, the car required a code for the radio... mental... I didn't have one... and after phoning Mazda saying I didn't they wanted £50 notes to fix it... so, locked it out myself to "Err" and then did the factory reset and entered 3511 to default. All done. £50 notes... muppets!

If you do it quickly you wont need the code at all. Only things i had to redo were the one touch window and power steering from lock to lock.

^^ Not always true but possible. Even a short battery disconnect can allow the security code to start. Depends on the car. Some recognise the ECU and so don't require a code.

OP, you can get small 12V batteries that you supply through the cig lighter or original battery wiring so that memory and all systems stay live through the change.

I'd stick with Eurocarparts over Tayna, ECP you can take it to your local branch if you get a problem. With Tayna you have to ship it back I think at your cost and then wait for them to test it. I wouldn't use them again. Costco is another place for Bosch if you can get in.
