New BBC scifi series - Outcasts

I thought it was OK for a first episode... Will give a couple more a go, but it obviously needs to build!

I did groan out loud at the disease! The symptom was a glowing halo around their heads? Someone needs to the smack the writer that put that line to paper!

Bloody awful!

Warning! Binary opinion alert!

The BBC might be wiser in future to spend a bit more of the cash they've used for sets, cinematography, locations, actors, lighting etc to hire some people to, y'know, write some decent WORDS to put in some actors MOUTHS and perhaps invest in a PLOT too.

LOL!

A preview in the paper (Times) said “not since Bonekickers has the BBC broadcast such an irredeemably awful series…..” and how right they were.

Have they seen the series? Or just the first episode?

Because if they've not seen the whole series, and then it really picks up towards the end... Isn't that technically redeeming itself?

I honestly can't think of one redeeming feature of this show so far.

At least The Deep had Nesbitt.

Characters - boring, tired, uninvolving.
Plot - incoherent, shallow.
Dialogue - appallingly bland.
Action - non-existent but for one corridor scene.
Plausibility - zero. For example, two police idiots that can't even stay on a straight path without losing their equipment and that look like they're out with the orienteering club, go to apprehend this murderer without their weapons drawn.
Oh, and sex - where was the sex as promised by khaaan?! :p

BBC, I am disappoint. Another drama from you that will grip me about as much as PMQs.

I got the feeling that the writer had seen more than one episode and I certainly won't be coming back to give it a second chance.

I'm a bit disillusioned with the ability of the UK tv industry to make quality sci fi programming, whether it's light hearted, or of the more serious variety.

Seems you have to turn to the us/canada for quality sci fi shows these days.

I'd have thought Bamber's character would have lived past the first episode, you'd have thought the BBC would want to draw in viewers with an actor who's had some moderate success in the genre...

Yeah seems an odd decision, thought I saw him again for a moment in the preview bit of the upcoming episodes at the end but it might have just been me looking for any reason at all to continue watching as his character was one of the few genuinely at all interesting.

EDIT: He seems to only be credited for one episode so I guess I'll give the rest of it a miss.

Killing off the only interesting Character in the series........not a good start.

The PAS woman who went after him is the most annoying and egotistical character I have come across for a while, I just want to shoot her.

It seems like the real power players are entering in the next few episodes so I'll stick with it for now.

Yes, it did seem the story tried exploring lots of things, but many of them not very well... And yes, the script did seems a bit messy.

And what was that stupid white-out storm? Was the only point of that to make his wife end up alone?

But it was a first episode, trying to find its footing, so I'll give it a couple more episodes hoping it gets going!

Isn't he involved with ITV and Law and Order UK so might not have been able to commit to a few months spent in South Africa to film this series ...

Oh I'd rate this above The Deep.

What did you guys think of Defying Gravity? I wonder if this will end up at obscure times like that did...

I quite enjoyed Defying Gravity, was waiting for series 2 for lots of answers to be revealed but then I find that the show was cancelled! Bit of a kick in the nadgers that one. Same with Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Odyssey 5 and The 4400.

Of all those, Firefly really needed more episodes :)
