I've got a hybrid bike atm, can't remember exactly what one but it does the job.

Although recently I've refrained from riding it purely due to the seat. It's the most uncomfortable thing in the world. So I'm looking at getting a new one now the weathers warmer and I can go out and not worry about getting drenched.

Any recommendations for a decent seat?

Very difficult because everyone is different and what suits one person may not suit others.

That said there are some saddles that seem to generally be popular and while they might not be perfect for you they could be a good improvement. I put a Charge Spoon on my hybrid and my backside thanked me for it after a few days of settling in.

Saddle position is also very important.

Only one I've heard of that seems to fit a majority of the people well is the Charge Spoon (or Fabric Scoop for the updated version with different profile options). But the best thing to do would be to go to a shop which can measure your sit bones and give you recommendations based on that. Or, failing that, a shop which gives you a 90 day+ returns thingy on saddles if you're not happy with it.

I'll have a look into that one.

If ts any help I tend to cycle more upright, it's just for leisure and the odd cycle to uni if it's nice enough. Might pop into town one day this week and go to Evans to see what they say and have to offer.

Yes the Ergon SMC3.

No matter which saddle you choose make sure you measure your sit-bones accurately, all you need is a piece of cardboard and a ruler.

I spent years riding a saddle which was too small but my body kind of adapted then when every single piece of my cycle had been upgraded I had no choice but to choose a new saddle.

That Ergon SMC3 linked above is night and day difference to what I had (Stock TREK/Bontrager jobbie), it's hard to explain but between the correctly fitting saddle and a decent chamois I can't really feel the connection between my ass and the seat . . . I also don't get numbkok anymore after just an hours cycling! :p
