Evening. Thought i would show you my new toy. Put my deposit down today on this bad boy. Only done 5200 miles. Great condition just needs a good clean. I am bricking it though. Got my DAS Course this week. This is the first big bike I have ridden. Done a lot of Motorcross when I was younger and had and RS 125 :(.

Worrying about the debt at the moment but I am sure once I get to look at it 24/7 that will soon go. Guys is this a good first bike?

I Do hope so or its a bit late

Enjoy

Nice bike, my first bike was a CBR600FW (98) had it from new until a year ago when I part-ex'd it for a VFR800 VTEC which was fantastic for the 5 weeks I had it before some silly women knocked me off and wrote the thing off....

Good luck with the test.

Bloke downstairs has one of these and it regularly scares the **** out of him so I reckon it'll be a good laff for ya! Take it easy though, it'll take you by surprise a few times. Easy on the front brake in the wet too, it's quite sharp on that one :D

Take it easy and remember that the throttle works both ways and you should be fine. They're not overly skittish bikes, but still need to be treated with respect as ever. ;) My first "big" bike was a GPZ500s, it was light, not that powerful, but lots of fun, rock solid and I could chuck it around without worrying about denting it etc...

Enjoy it and good luck on the bike test! :)

NOOOO, dont get a 600f they're crap ;)

Of course I am joking, I have had mine now for 3 months and I have loved every second on it! As freefaller said, it is a big powerful machine but you shouldnt have any problems going slow on it too. :)

Your CBR is slightly newer than mine (the FX), so you have the better looking front lights and thats about all thats different about them :)

You are getting on it at about the right time of year, the summer still to come and plenty of biker days to be had!

Just enjoy it and be pretty smug knowing that 99% of the cars out there really dont have much to go with compared to a bike :)

I stepped up from a 4 stroke 125 (the cbr), straight onto a 600f and i was very scared of the power for all of 2 miles, then i opened it up a bit more and before i knew it the bike was just the norm

EDIT: Sorry almost forgot something, if you are in the midlands area you should check this thread out :D

Ive just noticed the rear hugger that yours has on it, I keep checking ebay for one as I think they finish the back end off a treat :)

All i want to do to mine now is get smaller rear indi's, rear hugger and sort the undertray out as i got a nice little plate for the bike a few weeks back and there is quite a bit of plastic on how at the momnet :)

Once again, enjoy it but for god sake dont become another statistic :)

Nice bike. Just noticed that the CBR600F-X/Y is Bike's best used 600/750 sportsbike of 2006 too :)

It has a slight colour discolouraration where the leathers have been on the tank. What is the best way of putting this back to shiny black again ?

i never used to have any liking for bikes, but recently (last few years) ive really started liking the idea of one. must be because im almost 30!

Nice bike! One of the better handling 600's I've been led to believe.

I'll be doing my DAS winter time (might as well sign up tomorrow with this weather  ) I. Can't wait. I rode a Gilera DNA for 2 years every day. Winter riding was pretty fun, although the poor circulation in my hands didn't help the windchill factor.

How old are you and what will the insurance be like? As the Mrs is learning to drive, when she passes I want to sell my car, get her a smaller runaround and get myself a 600.

Heya

I am 24 Male :)

Been a naughty boy when i was 18 so i have a driving ban on my record until June 06 and a bump.

Which isnt good. Speeding on the motorway when i was 19.

Two week ban thats all but its bad enough to affect my insurance.

Fully comp with CIA was £930

Whats the best way of cleaning my bike?

I want to give the engine a good clean and there is slight salt on it. No permanent discoleration hopefully. Can I just use water and some good shampoo maybe some magure stuff!!

What would be the best way of bringing the paint to perfect black again as there are slight marks in places

Cheers

Baz

Cleaning that way is fine. Just be careful not to let water go down the exhaust (i pust masking tape over mine), and make sure you dry everything nicely. Also give the chain a nice wax/oil (which ever you prefer) after you've done it. As you clean it give it a good once over and so on. I just use normal car shampoo stuff (I'm not bothered about brand), in a hot bucket of water. I always shamois the bike over afterwards.

I use Muc-off for cleaning the bike.
Spray it on, leave it a few mins then wash off. Removes dead flies no problem.
My mate on the other hand uses Mr Sheen, spray it on and wipe it off. Tried it and it works a treat.
Avoid a high pressure power washer, since they have a nasty habit of washing all the grease out of bearings.
